Boarding Guidelines & Policies

Please refer to the below guidelines and policies before bringing your pet to board with us.


24 Hr. Patient Care

All pets are monitored 24-hours a day by our highly qualified staff members. You will be notified immediately of any changes in your pet’s condition.

Personal Items

During your pet’s stay, we will do everything possible to ensure your pet is comfortable. We will always provide safe and comfortable bedding so each pet has a soft place to lie down. You are more than welcome to leave a special blanket or toy, but we cannot guarantee these items will not be misplaced. For this reason, we ask that you do not leave any personal item that would have significant sentimental or monetary value.

Communication & Updates

We understand it is difficult to be away from your pet. Your pet’s health and safety are very important to us. We will make sure that your pet is comfortable during their stay and if any complications do arise, you will be notified immediately. We understand being away from your pet may be difficult. However, please keep phone calls to a minimum to allow us more time to provide the proper care for your pet during their stay. We ask that you also designate one person to call and receive information regarding your pet while in our care.

Dropoff

If you drop off your pet you should be here no later than 5:30 pm on weekdays. Please do not arrive for dropoff between 12:30pm and 2:00pm on weekdays, as we will be closed for lunch during these hours. No pets are to be dropped off prior to 8:00am without prior arrangement with the Shawnee Animal Clinic staff. Saturday drop off is 8:00am-1:30pm. We will be closed after 1:30pm on Saturdays.

Pickup

It is important to us that your pet(s) receive a bath and are fully dry prior to your pickup. We ask that you pickup your pet(s) between 2:00pm and 5:30pm on weekdays. Any afterhours times will include a fee of $50. Saturday pickup is between 11:00am-1:30pm. We will be closed after 2:00pm on Saturdays.

Health & Age Requirements

No pet with signs of ticks and or fleas will be permitted to board at Shawnee Animal Clinic, unless they are given Capstar prior to boarding. Additionally, no pets under the age of four months will be permitted to board.

Medications

If your pet takes any type of medication there will be a $6 a day fee for administering said medication. All medication must be in its original bottles or boxes. (All supplements are considered medication.)

Vaccination Requirements

Dogs

  • If your dog is under the age of 10 years, they are required to have proof of vaccination for:

    • DA2PP (Distemper, Adenovirus Type II, Parvovirus,and Parainfluenza)

      • 1 or 3 year vaccine required

    • Bordetella

      • Required every 12 months and at least 7 days prior to your drop-off to ensure maximum efficiency and protection against Kennel Cough

    • Rabies

      • 1 or 3 year vaccine required

    • Influenza

      • Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Canine Influenza respiratory illness.

    • Leptospirosis

      • Not required but highly recommended to help protect against the Leptospirosis infection

  • If your dog is over 10 years, they are required to have proof of vaccination for:

    • Bordetella

      • Required every 12 months and at least 7 days prior to your drop-off to ensure maximum efficiency and protection against Kennel Cough

    • Rabies

      • 1 or 3 year vaccine required

Cats

  • If your cat is under 10 years, they are required to have proof of vaccination for:

    • FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus & Panleukopenia)

      • 1 or 3 year vaccine required

    • Rabies

      • 1 or 3 year vaccine required

    • Leukemia

      • Not required but highly recommended to protect against Feline Leukemia

  • If your cat is over 10 years, they are required to have proof of vaccination for:

    • Rabies

      • 1 or 3 year required
